16 May 2016: The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has issued a revised version of the Examination Guidelines for Patent Applications at IPOS (the “Guidelines”), available here. Michael McLaughlin named an “IP Star”

11 August 2015: We are very pleased to announce that our Michael McLaughlin has been named an “IP Star” for 2015 by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) at www.miphandbook.com. This is the second successive year that Michael has received this honour. MIP reports that the firm ‘is a small but respected boutique… the team manages global portfolios for local clients and portfolios in Singapore and Southeast Asia for international businesses. “They have done drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications for us, and we appreciate that they understand our needs and are very efficient” a client says.’ Our patent litigation support services also gained recognition, with MIP citing the recent case in which Michael acted as the patent attorney in the team which successfully defended a patent infringement claim brought by local company Mobilestats against the Attorney General of Singapore for an alleged patent infringement by the Ministry of Defence Singapore.  Many thanks to our clients and to Managing Intellectual Property for the kind words.

Michael McLaughlin appointed to the Patents Standing Committee of the Singapore Group of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association

3 August 2015: The Standing Committee representatives have a number of responsibilities including:

• Act as representatives for the Singapore Group to the relevant Standing Committee for the 2015-2018 term
• Prepare papers to meet the requirements of the relevant Standing Committee, which may include feedback on public consultations relating to legislative or procedural changes, and also attend the Standing Committee meetings during the APAA annual conference
• Assist the Singapore Group in relation to issues and actively participate in activities pertaining to legal & practice areas relevant to the Standing Committee and/or delegated by the Executive Committee of APAA Singapore.

Michael is extremely pleased about this opportunity to be more involved in such an auspicious organisation.
